Can you start by telling us a little about yourself? (For e.g. Where do you live? What do you do for a living? What are your favorite hobbies/activities outside of work?)
I live in Colchester, VT with my husband, Zaf Bludevich, a former long-time Saint Michael’s College employee. We have two daughters, one of whom works in Washington, DC and the other in Worcester, MA. Outside of work Zaf and I take full advantage of the recreational opportunities in our beautiful state, skiing in the winter and biking in the summer. I also serve the town of Colchester as a member of the selectboard and volunteer as a guardian ad litem for children in family court.

Can you describe your Saint Michael’s College experience?
As one of the first female students at Saint Michael’s my academic career here had some interesting moments. In more than one class I was the only female and I did have one faculty member (who was an Edmundite who shall remain nameless) called every person by Mr. and their last name, including me. I had another faculty member who insisted on supplying blue books (those small books used for exams that I am certain are no longer used) to the males and pink books to the few females in the class. I protested both situations to no avail. Still, I persisted!

What advice would you give to current female students?
Don’t be afraid to take a risk, take charge, step up and be present.

What are some strategies that can help women achieve a more prominent role in their organizations?
Look for opportunities to add value to a situation. Try to have a positive outlook and understand that things often do not change without real hard work and persistence. Your views, opinions, and contributions will matter if you follow through and prove to be reliable and honest.

What keeps you motivated and driven every day?
Returning to SMC from retirement has been energizing in many ways, but the most motivating aspect of my work is the people I work with who are very dedicated to SMC.
